More...seeking people who'll help me in my fight. I'm part of the People of the Silent Plains - that's a group dedicated to tearing down slavery in Tevinter.
There's a lot. But the most important of those things is - making guarantees, if you win the war, that things won't go back to how they were before. That you all won't just stand by while the Magisters take their power back and re-enslave everyone.
[ an oddly difficult thing to promise, when derrica considers even just the contents of riftwatch. ]
There are so many people here who would make that promise to you. And they would fight hard to make sure it came true. But I'm worried we aren't powerful enough to stop what you're talking about.
If we aren't powerful, and we have the reputation that we do. Are you sure it wouldn't be doing more harm than good to start with us, if you intend on seeking out others?
[ Presuming some more active, malicious action rather than what Derrica means, which is— ]
We can be thought of us...odd. Or strange, and difficult. The perception of us might work against you, depending on who else you're trying to gain favor with.
Right. [ It's something that Tertia knows - because she had taken Derrica's original meaning; she hadn't thought that Riftwatch would do active harm. After all, they've never done anything active when it comes to the question of slavery -
Ah, no. She silences that sharp-edged part of her mind. ] Whose opinion do you think you all would ruin?
[ When Derrica considers it, she wonders if it wouldn't matter at all.
How much difference is there between them, if one is considering a collection of mages and rift-spawned oddities alongside a collection of revolutionaries from Tevinter?
Still— ]
Those who are very devout, [ is a starting point. ] If you intend to appeal to the southern Chantry, you might do that first.
[ A beat, letting this settle. Absorbing this shortcoming to set alongside the Chantry's other sins. ]
I want to help you, in whatever way I can. And I know there are many others here who would want to as well. I'm sure Marcus advised you of more people to speak with than just me?
I spoke with Commander Flint - of course - he was the first one I talked to. I really admire him. Him and his whole crew - Messere Silver, as well. They're not cowards.
They aren't. He isn't. And they care for what is unjust in this world, even if it would be more convenient if they did not. I'm glad you spoke with him as well.
Yes! They never stopped fighting, even when it seemed impossible. And they fought alongside slaves - I was so relieved to find that they lived up to the stories, you know. Reputations are so often exaggerated, but they're both so - Well, a little bit frightening, but everything I've seen so far seems - Well, you know, you've met them.

[ The sweetness of her voice clashes a little oddly with that unvarnished truth. ]
But we're also not trying to get only you on our side. You'd matter a lot to us, though, you really would.

We don't, messere. Intend to appeal to them.

[ There is the obvious: that any assistance from those corners would come with strings attached. ]

Because they've never once called one of their Exalted Marches to free us. They've always had the power to fight for us, and they never have.

[ That word is soft, but it's grateful. She didn't expect - But maybe she should have. The people here are kinder than nearly any she's met. ]
Um - yes. I'm speaking with Matthias, as well. Is there anyone else?

[ a pause, then more thoughtfully— ]
And Gwenaƫlle Baudin. She's blunt, but her heart is in the right place. She might have advice we dont.
